Edward
R. White is an attorney whose practice is
concentrated in
U.S. Immigration Law, with a focus on business and employment
related immigration matters. Ed was born in Boston, Massachusetts
and graduated with honors from the University of Texas at
Austin (B. A.) and De Paul University College of Law (J.
D.) in Chicago, Illinois.
Ed
is a member of the Massachusetts state
bar and is licensed
to practice before the U.S. Federal District Courts of
Massachusetts and Northern District of Illinois. After
practicing law
in Chicago for nearly a decade with two prestigious law
firms, in 2000 Ed left a large law firm in Chicago to
begin
a solo practice in Boston dedicated exclusively to the
practice of immigration law.
Ed secures temporary
and permanent work visas, alien labor certifications, permanent
residency, and other related immigration benefits for foreign
professionals, managers, executives and other workers. He practices before the U.S. Immigration Service, Immigration
Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. consulates abroad
and the U.S. Department of Labor. His practice also includes
family immigration law for select clients.
In addition,
Ed has represented, pro bono, individuals who have applied
for political asylum in the United States. While practicing
law in Chicago, Ed provided pro bono legal service through
the Midwest Immigrant Rights Center from 1993 to 1997. In
Boston, Ed is a regular speaker on a local radio station
on a wide array of immigration topics.
Ed is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and was elected to the Executive Board of AILA, New England Chapter . He currently serves the Chapter as Treasurer and also co-chairs the Congressional Liaison Committee. He has been a volunteer attorney with the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians in Boston for several years and is a member of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and French Cultural Center of Boston.
